Ensembles

We can provide a variety of small ensembles or individual musicians for church or civil weddings, receptions, banquets and corporate events.

Our musicians have performed in many different venues in the North West; including Shrigley Hall, Rookery Hall, Arley Hall, Peckforton Castle and Hoghton Tower.

Philharmonic String Quartet

bredbury 1 modifiedThe Philharmonic String Quartet will provide relaxing background music, suitable for any event. They can also perform as a string trio or duo.

The four players are experienced professionals based in the North West, who play with the region's top orchestras including, Halle, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic, Opera North and Northern Chamber Orchestra. They have worked in West End shows, touring throughout the UK and have appeared as backing musicians in bands for artistes such as Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson, Hayley Westenra and Texas.  Their playing is versatile and they perform a huge variety of repertoire ranging from Mozart to Gershwin to Beatles numbers. The selection is always increasing and the quartet is happy to perform music of your choice.

The quartet can provide traditional wedding music for any service or a large selection of ‘lighter’ pieces to accompany drinks receptions or meals. They can perform inside a venue or – weather permitting – outside in the hotel gardens.

 

Oracle Oboe Trio

Oboe TrioThis is an original alternative to the traditional string quartet.

The oboist, Jane Evans, a member of the Northern Chamber Orchestra, formed the Oracle Oboe Trio.  She also is a freelance player with a variety of orchestras including BBC Scottish Orchestra, Philharmonia and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Her emotive cor anglais playing can be heard in many film tracks including Lord of the Rings (The Return of the King).

The combination of the oboe, violin and cello makes a wonderful rich sound and is the perfect accompaniment to your special event. The repertoire is varied: ranging from Baroque and Classical music to popular classics, songs and film themes.

 

Lauren Scott - Harp

Lauren Scott is a harpist based in the North West. She has had many years experience providing quality music for weddings and corporate events in venues such as the Tower of London, Guildhall, Harrods, stately homes and hotels across the UK.
Lauren has worked extensively with many of the UK's leading orchestras, including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National, Halle, City of Birmingham, Northern Chamber Orchestra, BBC Scottish and the BBC Symphony Orchestras. She has played in West End shows and with artists such as Robbie Williams and Katherine Jenkins. She has broadcast on Classic FM and Radio 4 with 'Duo Mandala'.
Lauren has a wide ranging repertoire for private parties and functions and has played in most of the halls and hotels across the North West and West Midlands including Crewe Hall, Shrigley Hall, Rookery Hall, Capersthorne Hall, Bramhall Hall, The Lowry Hotel, Moorside Grange Hotel, Alton Towers, The Alderly Edge Hotel and Hollin Hall.
  • An alternative to solo harp is a harp/flute duo.
 

Tim Abel - Piano

 Tim is an experienced cocktail pianist who plays regularly for weddings and functions throughout the North West and the UK.

He studied the piano at the Royal Northern College of Music where he received a degree, a postgraduate diploma and was awarded a two-year placement as Junior Fellow.

His performing experience is extensive, having played at the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Philharmonic Hall and Bridgewater Hall, as well as many smaller venues throughout the UK.

 He performs regularly as an accompanist, soloist and ensemble player for a wide range of musicains in both classical and jazz genres, and has played on cruise ships throughout Europe and the Red Sea. 

If there is no piano available, Thackeray Music can supply a digital piano.
